The Syueshan giant tree stands within Taiwan's Dasyueshan National Park as the largest Taiwan red cypress. This colossal tree comprises nine red cypresses fused into a single trunk, reaching a height of 50 metres with a circumference of 13.5 metres. Estimated to be 1,095 years old, it ranks as Taiwan's tenth oldest tree. Taiwan red cypress timber has long enjoyed a distinguished reputation. During the periods surrounding the First and Second World Wars, Japan and Western nations exhibited immense demand for cypress wood, utilising it for construction and military purposes. It even became a pivotal element in economic diplomacy.
